Eucalyptus and Environmental Protection
Although cotton is still widely used in towels and sheets, it has a major negative effect on the environment. Growing and processing cotton requires heavy use of pesticides, water, and energy. It’s also a “horizontal” crop occupying extensive acreage that could be used to grow food.
Eucalyptus trees are grown sustainably as a renewable resource. They require no pesticides, consume 96% less water than cotton and, as a “vertical” crop, take up less land than cotton plants. Processing the wood fiber also requires less water and less energy than cotton.
Textiles made from eucalyptus fiber are biodegradable.
